Welcome!!  Again.

Ta Da!

Ta Da!

Well?  How do you like it?

As you can see, I’ve been busy as a little bee redesigning thegrownupchild.ca.  And I really hope you like it.  The header was designed by Lauren over at Restored 316 Designs and I did the rest myself.  I’m still not completely done but the rest of the changes will be fairly minimal.  The only large thing you’ll notice over the next few days is that I’m going to switch to a static home page; meaning that the ‘home’ link will always be a welcome page and there will be a tab in the menu for the ‘blog’ (aka – this page).

I would really like to know what you think.  I’m a glutton for constructive criticism, so if you find the page now cluttered, confusing or taking too long to load, please let me know!  Chances are that you are in good company and since I don’t just write this stuff for myself, I want the space to be as appealing as possible to a broad audience.

So I ask again…..

What do you think?

I mentioned in the earlier post (because I’m a crazed stalker who just kept hitting “refresh” every ten or so minutes) that I really like the new skin! Love the butterfly icon too!

But you know what? That’s not what makes this blog. You are. Your thought-provoking, self-inspecting blogs are. It’s amazing what I’ve learned about myself, you, and life in general through your blogs.

Paint it black, red, blue, green, or yellow. This blog will for always be something that makes people stop and think. :)

Aww, thanks Urchin. That really means the world to me.

But I’m glad you like it too!

OMG! I love it!!! And I love the whole metamorphasis idea in your banner, somewhat of an analogy in reference to the whole “grown-up child” process…so clever! BTW, how funny that Lauren is moving my blog! I heard amazing things about her from other Bloggers which is why I chose her with the big move. It looks awesome, but I already knew you are. ;)

Thanks Heather! I’m actually not surprised you’re dealing with Lauren because I actually found her through you! I loved your design so much that I contacted Sour Apple Studios to see if they dealt with WordPress and they referred me to Lauren. lol. But yes, Lauren is *amazing*.

*blush* Aww… I had to come check out the new due since Heather mentioned it was up. It looks great!!!

Thank you guys so much for your compliments as well!

I’m glad you like the end result, Lauren. Thanks again for your unending patience!

This is my first visit to your blog, but I have to say I like it. But I like “cluttered.” I think it looks creative and very personal, which is what it should be.

WOW! I totally do NOT have a clue of what it looked like before, but I love the look I see now. I have been debating moving over to WordPress and as I see more ladies switching and the WordPress layouts, I envy more. I’m doing it darnit! Oh, btw…Happy SITS day girl!

12 Carolyn November 10, 2009 at 11:42 pm

Thanks Mariah! And yes, I’m a total wordpress girl. Come to the dark side with me! lol!

Honestly, I am more concerned about the content, the format is secondary. You have a great blog, keep on writing!

p.s. I think it looks great :)

Thanks Melissa! I agree, the content is what’s most important. But once I get started on something I tend to get kind of tunnel visioned. Now that this is done, I’ll be getting a new (quality) post up pronto!

19 Laura A November 10, 2009 at 10:03 pm

Be well,

I would like to take the time to congratulate you on a job well done with this blog.

I have finished my review of “For the grown up child of divorce – a practical guide and place to rant” and I’m happy to announce your blog has been added to Blogging Women.

A big thank you for submitting your blog to our women’s blog directory.

22 Carolyn November 10, 2009 at 11:45 pm

Wow! Thanks Fay!

23 Mimi November 11, 2009 at 10:10 am

OH WOW! It’s so rad. I love that you have the butterfly life-cycle as your header. I always enjoy a good chrysalis picture and the one in the sidebar is so pretty. This really makes me want to switch to wordpress. Bad.

24 Carolyn November 11, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Oh you science buff, you! ;)

25 Mimi November 20, 2009 at 12:12 pm

AWESOME COOL ~ i truly love it…

and speaking of change… i have a question ~ i am not sure if it stems from having constant change in my life as a child or not, but i am never satisfied with keeping things the same for too long, i move furniture, pictures on the wall, knick-knacks… i change my hairstyle frequently, my style of clothing and since i have my blog i find myself constantly looking for ways to change it… do you find this also to be true?

27 Carolyn November 11, 2009 at 10:26 pm

In a way. I am always tinkering and trying to improve this place. But I had always assigned that to my perfectionism. You bring up an interesting question though.

28 MeCassieMarie November 11, 2009 at 10:05 pm

I love the design! It’s absolutely beautiful. I’m pretty new at blog designs/blogging in general and I’m currently working on my own design. This is inspirational.
