What’s been done for me lately…

Here is a discussion that started with the question ‘What good things have you had happen to you recently?’.  It was great to read all this happy news.  Please feel free to continue the discussion or add your own good thing!

I would like to start a feel good post, in sharing something good someone’s done for you.

Last night my oldest son put his arms around me and told me I am the bestest daddy in the world. It warmed my heart.

Okay, I have two really big ones.

First – For my birthday this year I decided I wanted an iPod. Not just any iPod; I wanted the iPod touch. And not just the piddly 8GB one either. I wanted at least the 16GB. I rarely ask for expensive gifts like this. I don’t ask for jewelery or anything like that. And my husband got it for me. No grief. No complaining. He even got the extended warranty. And I do have to say…I LOVE it.

Second – You have read the name Frank Fradella in a couple of my posts. Well, he was the first one I asked to read this thing here and his response was more than I could have asked for. Since then he has wantonly promoted my blog on his website and on facebook. For a baby blog like mine, that kind of exposure is a HUGE gift. Thanks again Frank!

There isn’t much that can warm your heart like your child’s love. Congratulations Peter for being the kind of dad that would get such a great compliment from his son.

Most recently I found a blog. Not just any blog, but a well written blog with intelligent people I can relate to. It’s an awesome place where I can take off my shoes and wiggly my toes in the grass outside my fortress of inner solitude. It’s an awesome place with awesome people all made of win.

Also, I’m loved. Learning how to be loved is hard, but I am, and it’s wonderful. Who would have thought…

Assuming you are talking about this particular blog Urchin, I thank you. I’m glad this is a place you enjoy. A place you feel comfortable being yourself. It’s what I had hoped for. Even more actually.

Yes, this is the blog I was referring to. Because it’s made of win!

I have a wonderful husband who just got me a card and gift cert for a pedi and mani. Just to say thank you for everything I do and so I can feel like a woman not just a mom for a few moments!

The second thing is this blog. It has been very enlightening for me. I have learn so much already about the foreign worlds of divorce/adoption/bad marriages. I thank everyone for that. My childhood was not perfect but I was the lucky one to always feel like I belonged with my family. It was the outside world that saw me as different b/c of my dad. Family was where I wasn’t different. Thank you all for sharing and helping get rid of some of my ignorance/naivity.

Tammy, I’m going to have my husband read this comment and see if he gets any ideas. :)

And I’m glad you have enjoyed reading my posts. When I started this thing I didn’t think anything I had to say would really appeal to anyone who wasn’t a child of divorce. Since then it has happened that almost all of my most prevalent readers are not! And you are all telling me how much you enjoy learning from me and are drawing parallels into your own experiences and lives! Well, this couldn’t have gotten any better for me. Really. Sometimes I lay awake at night smiling just thinking about it.

Burgers at midnight. Soaked in a jack daniel’s sauce. Shared with a man who doesn’t mind my oddities. Serenity on the television. A soft bed with “fairy lights” on. Whispered “I love yous” when it’s presumed I’m asleep. The chuckle that ensues after I answer with “I love you too”

Now that’s a scene that would make any girl sigh. *big dramatic sigh*

Minus the burgers(haven’t had one in 25 yrs), it sounds like the perfect evening. Especially if you get to sleep the whole night through and aren’t woken up at 3 am by a 2 yr old saying “hi mama I eating marshmallows”, But I guess that is a good night too, at least good for a laugh and a entry in his journal.

I was a vegetarian for about seven years. I’m not sure if it was seven exactly or not. I ended up being hospitalized for a bit and “meated” again. I have a really hard time handling raw meat so make other people do that for me. I rarely eat red meat at all, but I was just craving it the other night.

I like marshmallows. Especially roasted over open flames. Maybe a little burnt. mmmm. Tammy you make me want s’mores!
