One year ago today, I went nervously to a hospital knowing that day I’d meet my daughter.
One year ago today, I relied on family to care for my precious son, not knowing how long we’d be apart.
One year ago today, I gave up all control and put my trust in doctors and nurses.
One year ago today, I ate popsicles and told myself they were filling when I was starving.
One year ago today, I felt my contractions induced and cheered the absence of back labor.
One year ago today, I tangibly felt the depth and strength of my husbands love, both for me and for our family.
One year ago today, I shared this sacred event not with family, but with a cherished friend.
One year ago today, divorce and family dynamics were the farthest thing from my mind.
One year ago today, I was strong yet light, and joked right up to delivery.
One year ago today, I held my breath waiting for the sound of a cry.
One year ago today, I felt a rush of love while gazing at slate eyes and perfect lips.
One year ago today, I reveled in the celebration of a birth.
One year ago today, I whispered to words like ‘beautiful’, ‘sweet’ and ‘precious’ while feeling they were entirely inadequate.
One year ago today, I felt both confidence and fear, knowing what lay ahead.
One year ago today, I realized what it meant to hold my daughter.
One year ago today….I’m sorry I keep writing that, but it feels more like yesterday to me.
