My interview with Jacquelyn Fletcher

Jacquelyn Fletcher

I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I told you that when I saw a note from Jacquelyn Fletcher, author of the book The Career Girls Guide to Becoming a Stepmom and her blog by the same title, I was a little (okay, a lot) excited.   She told me how much she related to one of my posts and how important she thought my writing was.

I was glowing.

And then I read that she wanted to interview me.  I was humbled.   And nervous.

I’ve done a couple of interviews now, but they have been by email.  I get a list of questions which I get to ponder for a couple of days before sitting down to my keyboard to answer.  I get to edit, edit, edit.  Write, read and rewrite.  It’s time consuming, yes but easier for me with regards to my perfectionistic tendencies.

Jacqueline’s interview would be done by phone and then put on the internet as a free podcast.  And as much as I wanted to do it, I was completely nervous.  Scared I’d sound like a dufus.  Worried I’d trip over my words.  Petrified that I’d say something I’d immediately want to take back.

But Jacqueline is an amazing interviewer.  She made me feel completely comfortable and I’ve told her a couple of time since that our conversation felt more like a chat between friends than an interview at all.  I dished, I gushed, we gabbed, it was great!  I’m actually really looking forward to the possibility of doing another interview with her in the future.  Do you have any topic ideas for us?

Jacque posted the podcast a couple of days ago. If you’d like to have a little listen, click on the button below and head on over.  I am podcast #13.  Enjoy!

Great interview! I bought a copy of Between Two Worlds yesterday when I heard you two talking about it on this podcast and read it all yesterday — in one day. I’m a stepmom, trying to understand more what life feels like for my stepkids, and the book was a real eye opener. Thanks for the recommendation.

I’m so glad you liked it, Jill! And I’m glad you liked the book. It’s an easy read and so honest.

First: love your voice, it’s so much how I actually pictured it!

The interview was really really well done, I’m not only impressed with your speaking skills, but I’m impressed with Ms. Fletcher’s ability to conduct an interview by keeping it interesting and relevant. Not always easy things. <3

Isn’t Jacque awesome! I did an interview with her at the beginning of the month (Stepmoms with special needs step kids) – it was like grabbing a cup of coffee with my best friend on a Saturday morning and catching up!

I’m heading over to listen to yours now!
