In search of me – Day 20

What?!? No way, that's crazy!

What?!? No way, that's crazy!

Wow!  Two thirds of the way done!  I’m feeling pretty good about this.  You might think I’m crazy for it, but am I?  I guess we’ll find out:

What’s the craziest thing you want to do?

Okay, I’m thinking of two things again. There’s the crazy thing I want to do, that only seems crazy to some people and feels totally normal to me. And then there’s the frivolous crazy thing I’d like to experience just once.

The crazy thing that I don’t think is so crazy, is a career change I want to make someday down the road. I would love to be a funeral director. I’m comfortable at funerals and visitations, and dead bodies (at least the one’s I’ve been around) don’t creep me out at all. I think I have a real solid psychological separation between the vessel of our bodies versus our souls and I believe that once we pass away the vessel becomes empty. Where the soul goes isn’t a debate I’m going to have here, but the empty vessel isn’t scary or gross or anything like that…to me. I also love event planning and what bigger event than one’s farewell ceremony? And I think I’m pretty good at being able to remain professional and keep people together; helping them make decisions that can be hard. Call me crazy but I’m pretty excited to do this one day.

Now for the frivolous thing. No, I don’t want to try base jumping or sky diving or hang gliding or anything that requires me to fall through through the air from great heights. I have no desire to extreme ski or snowboard, climb Mount Everest or Kilimanjaro, cliff dive or rock climb. I’m not really the outdoorsy athletic type.

What I want to do, is drink a Guinness in an actual Irish pub. In Ireland. No, I’m not Irish. And no, I don’t love Guinness. It’s crazy and kind of nonsensical but I really want to do it anyway. Crazy? Maybe. But we all have our quirks.

I want to learn how to white water kayak. I want to be able to paddle the Ottawa River. I was learning how( husbandwas teaching, well he was a boyfriend at the time) but kids have gotten in the way. I would also like to back country ski with my husband.

Carolyn I will join you in Ireland for that guinness someday. I don’t really like it that much but it would be so much fun to do. Girl trip?lol

I want to have dinner with Jackie Chan.

I want to feel comfortable in my own skin.

Sorry, but yes, that is “crazy” considering how long I’ve hidden from myself. If it ever happens it’ll be the most significant and insane thing I’ve ever done.

I can relate, Urchin.
